Ywamers from Suisse romande: What's become of them?

My name is Elisabeth Hadzi, the eldest of four daughters, and I grew up on a farm in the Neuchâtel Jura in a Christian family. I'm a nurse's assistant and attended the EFD in Burtigny in 1986. It was then that the Lord clearly indicated that I should attend the School of Evangelism in Lausanne. It was the last thing I wanted, but I went in obedience. A surprise awaited me: the practical phase was a trip to Africa, something I'd dreamed of since childhood. Then I was asked to help out at the Agou base in Togo. I readily accepted. I thought it would be my first and last time in Africa. While serving in the DTS, the Lord asked me to leave my country, my family and to answer His call through my daily reading. On my second trip, I met Salomon who was serving on base. We were married in 1991 and were soon given responsibility for the center. So here we were, newlyweds with a cross-cultural relationship and a base to manage. Seven months into our marriage, while I was pregnant with Salomé, my husband had an accident and became a quadriplegic. Miraculously, Salomon was evacuated to the paraplegic center in Switzerland. The doctors declared that he would never walk again. Prayers around the world and faith in God enabled my husband to walk and be independent, even though he still suffered pain and disability. Back in Togo, we continued to serve at Ywam Agou and welcomed 4 more children. We had to face many challenges, such as finding a water source or installing a wifi antenna.

Little by little, several ministries came into being: school education, the village health post, the bookshop, the farm, the family ministry and the FJ ministry. We have experienced God's goodness and faithfulness over the years. Agou is a great place in the middle of nature for training, camps and hospitality. As YWAM Togo celebrates its 40th anniversary, we have welcomed a total of 79 schools. More than 1,000 students have been trained here. Thanks be to God!
