YWAMers from French-Speaking Switzerland: What Becomes of Them? Richard

My name is Richard Gerber, and I grew up in Tramelan, Switzerland. I completed an apprenticeship as a carpenter and was crazy about soccer. I played goalkeeper for the local club. But I was thirsting for more… for God! I prayed to follow Him, no matter the cost. And God answered.

A girl from the youth group told me about her discipleship school at YWAM Champagne. I took the plunge myself. In March 1987, I quit my job and gave up soccer to set out on an adventure. Those were my first steps with Youth With A Mission France.

I joined the mobile base, a crazy project: converting semi-trailers into dormitories and dining halls to evangelize France! In 1991, I moved to YWAM Champagne, married Hilary (from New Zealand), and we had two children.

I led discipleship training schools, supervised Bible schools, and launched workshops for couples and families. After thirty years in Champagne, we joined YWAM Provence. Today, I’m starting my thirty-eighth year with YWAM, and I can say: God is faithful!

Looking back, it hasn’t always been easy, but WOW, God has restored individuals and couples. Serving God through JEM is a PRIVILEGE!
