A Mission Testimony

We are the Volery family (2 adults and 4 children ages 8 to 18), and we left for Hawaii in 2024. At first, we were volunteers (Kokua Crew) at the JEM base in Kona. Then we attended the Carrefour Discipleship School (for the older ones!). The kids attended the Foundation School (a mini-EFD for kids) and really improved their English!

We went for several reasons: first, to spend some “special” time as a family to strengthen our bonds; second, after participating in so many musicals with Les Fabricants de Joie, we used to joke that we didn’t want to die without having attended a discipleship school; and finally, most importantly, we wanted to see if God is truly who He says He is. And we weren’t disappointed!

We all grew in our knowledge of God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit, which also deepened our faith and made us more comfortable sharing it with others.

Our practical training took place over two months in Alaska. Then we continued “the mission trip of our lives” by spending three months traveling across Canada from west to east; then three months at an art school in Mazatlán (Mexico); followed by a few months in Cyprus and Norway.

What an experience, that’s for sure! We were deeply moved by Loren Cunningham’s vision and by what YWAM has become all over the world. God’s favor is upon this movement. And to see all these passionate young people sharing the Gospel and responding, “Here I am, Lord, send me”—and obeying. WOW!

We are so grateful and filled with all that our eyes have seen! Thank You, Lord, for this “set-apart” season. We’re totally energized!
