With Africa's population set to double by 2050, many Christian schools are being set up. New horizons are opening up in the field of education, freeing the continent from certain dubious colonial and pre-colonial legacies.
YWAM, through the Faculty of Education at the University of the Nations, is developing tools to accompany this movement, because those who prepare today the net of schools of tomorrow will determine what the Africa of the day after tomorrow will be.
Even if we see jolts agitating several African nations, we believe they are more akin to the growth cramps of an athlete in the making than the convulsions of a being in agony. Persevering to put God at the center not only of a child's heart development, but also of his or her mind, is at the heart of Africa's recovery (Mt 22:37).
Rooted in a biblical worldview, these schools aim not just for academic excellence, but for coherence between the student, the classroom, God, the disciplines studied and the environment. Education seeks, above all, wisdom... more than gold. This wisdom is born of the activity of the Spirit, who, on the one hand, takes the Word of God and, on the other, examines circumstances to chart a course for more of the King's reign. This is the key to solid inner government in every student, teaching them to make good choices. Thus equipped, rising generations will be able to meet the challenges of this complex world.
