The news came late in the evening of October 6. Loren Cunningham, founder of YWAM and co-founder of the University of the Nations, has gone to be with his Lord. His apostolic leadership, vision, teaching and love for God and all people have been an inspiration to people around the world. He traveled to every country. In 1969, Loren and Darlene started YWAM Lausanne, and returned in 1994 to lay the foundations for today's dynamism.
With the worldwide YWAM family, we remember his commitment to the great missionary mandate and his faith in promoting young people. Knowing God and making Him known, the motto he created, has inspired hundreds of thousands of people to commit themselves to mission. Loren's dedication to reaching every person, in every nation and every sphere of society, has never wavered. He seized every opportunity to mobilize the body of Christ to eradicate biblical poverty, translate the Bible into all mother tongues and constantly innovate.
Through this faithful man, Jesus miraculously sparked the YWAM movement with its integrated global university. Loren Cunningham has finished his race; he leaves us an immense legacy. I am deeply grateful for his life.
