Gladys Aylward - Beyond the mountains

After 16 performances in French-speaking Switzerland and Alsace, the curtain closed on King's Kids musical "Gladys Aylward - Beyond the Mountains". The story set to music of this young missionary's adventures in the 1930s attracted over 7,000 spectators of all ages and backgrounds. The show touched on many themes that are still relevant today, such as school failure, child trafficking, war, the plight of refugees, but above all, the invitation to believe in one's destiny and follow through on the dreams that God has placed in our hearts. Everyone was moved by the courage of the little English maid in the face of the difficulties encountered along the way.

Beyond the spectators, Gladys Aylward's life was a source of inspiration for the 70 participants who made up the intergenerational troupe (aged 4 to 60). Everyone was able to develop their talents in song, dance or theater, but also to grow in their relationship with God and search for their vocation by meditating on Gladys' journey and studying what the Bible has to say on the subject. This experience is sure to leave an indelible mark on their faith journey.

Before the video of the show is released on YouTube later this year, songs from the show are available from Éditions Jeunesse en Mission or on listening platforms.
